The Study Centre at CPFC were pleased to work with the team from Show Racism the Red Card for their annual visit to Selhurst Park, which saw Eagle striker Dwight Gayle on hand to speak to the students about the best ways to tackle the issue.  

This year 120 students, the biggest group to date, attended from four schools across Croydon - Ark Oval Primary, Cypress Primary, Greenvale Primary and Elmwood Juniors - and they had the opportunity to attend two anti-discrimination workshops focusing on homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in school.   

After the students were given the chance to see behind the scenes of their local Premier League club with a tour of the ground, the afternoon session kicked off with with an inspirational message from Alan Pardew.

The day concluded with a Q&A session where Gayle alongside representatives from Show Racism The Red Card fielded some tough questions, and then the panel had the unenviable job of deciding on the best ones.

Tyrelle (Cypress), Adam (Ark Oval), Laura (Greenvale) and Casper (Ark Oval) were decided as having asked the best questions and won a signed ball and t-shirt.

Gayle is the latest Palace player to show his support for the campaign, which the club have been involved with for a number of years. 

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s anti-racism educational charity and was established in January 1996, aiming to help tackle racism in society. The majority of the campaign’s output is the delivery of education to young people and adults in their schools, their workplaces and at events held in football stadiums. Across Britain, with training offered to more than 50,000 individuals per year.
