FAQ

The reopening guidance is complicated and difficult to interpret - we have done our best to ensure that we have simplified everything as much as possible without you losing confidence that all posible safety provisions are being made to protect children, staff and yourselves.

As queries arise we will post them here for your information.

1. Whats the deal with coats?

The guidance asks us to minimise all items passng between home and school wherever possible. As such we are asking packed lunches need to be in a disposable lunch bag and water bottles and coats remain in school. We understand this can be problematic but with so many of our children travelling via public transport we have to be more aware of this. Water bottles will be washed daily and coats will be sent home each weekend. If for some reason this is entirely impractical for you please speak to a member of the senior leadership team to support you however we can.

2. Onsite/offsite?

In the mornings we are asking children to be dropped at each gate - they will then follow a set route to their yeargroup pod. We are lucky that we have a number of gates we can utilise to this effect. At the end of school however it is far more complex - we have offset times for leaving the site as greatly as we can but parents will need to follow the one way ssytem through the school to collect the children. If you have children in a year group that is not presently releasing you wll need to wait for the appropriate time slot. Children can not be tken early and you can not wait on site - please leave AMPLE time for collection arangements.

3. What happens when its raining?

As we have had to utilise more hall space for dining and  various other aspects as we can cross anyone or any equipment from year group to year group unless weather is totally unsafe etc. snow or excessive ice children will be OUTSIDE thus we will need them to have a substantial and waterproof coat. There is virtually no way for us to safely conduct dismissal with children inside.

4. My child might have symptoms - im just not sure

Call us - we would rather they are late to school than have an infection event.

5. I read on Facebook that you are going to take my children away from me if they need a test.

No - dont believe everything you read on Facebook. We have a small number of tests on site to cover children that cant get access to a testing site. However, the academy does reserve the right to take action if you are flouting safety regulations and putting the lives of the community at risk.

6.I am suffering really anxiety regarding my childs return - can they wear PPE?

Yes - no problems with PPE - staff have also been told they can wear whatever they need to to feel safe.

7. What happens if there is a positive test?

If a member of the bubble has a positive test event all memebers of that bubble have to go into isolation - in that event it would be ALL children and staff from that particular year group. We would text/call/email you to notify you of arrangments and there will be learning provided for the period.
