National Storytelling Week

Sunday 09 February 2020

It is National Storytelling Week and at Ark Oval we celebrated it by re-telling stories and creating original ones. We looked at the difference between storytelling and reading, created story maps and used these to tell a story to another class. We had so much fun! During English lessons, pupils planned and wrote an original story and could be as adventurous and creative as they wanted. Some of our stories will be entered into BBC Radio 2’s  ‘500 word story challenge’ which many schools are taking part in across the country.

We further celebrated by adapting our DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read) where classes had the privilege of another teacher reading to them.  Pupils loved sharing their work and enjoyment of all things storytelling.
