Our Week - 13th-17th October 2019

Ark Oval Primary Academy – News of the Week

Principals Summary

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you may, or may not, know, the academy is imminently expecting a visit from Ofsted. Our neighbours Park Hill were inspected this week and as such we can be expected to be seen within the next few weeks. I want to make something clear to all the parents – this makes no difference. The academy has come so far in the last 16months, staff retention increased from the sub 50% mark of the preceding year to 85% last year, attendance well above national, a rich and full curriculum delivered across all years, regular parent consultation, reduced exclusion and behaviour rates and a happier school in general.

This has very little to do with me. This has come about because of the belief and commitment to the vision for the school the children have totally bought into. Their positive attitude and thirst for learning has driven the school ever forward, we keep up with their pace and eagerness, but they are the engine of change at the school and you can be hugely proud of them.

We will continue to keep the children at the very heart of an ever improving school and our school motto “Striving for Excellence” is far more important to us than whatever grading that is applied to us.

Please reflect this improvement in the survey that Ofsted uses to collect information in advance of a visit. Thanks in advance.
