Our Week 28th - 2nd October 2020
Sunday 04 October 2020
Usually, these messages concern the achievements of our children. Still, today I wish to bring to your attention to the accomplishments of our staff. Part of the growth and success of Oval in recent years has been the investment the school has made in staff retention, development and support.
A benchmark of this has been our current Vice Principal Miss Sharma. Miss Sharma, who looks after all things academic and development within the academy. Miss Sharma also currently finds herself sitting securely within the Amazon current bestsellers list for education with her first book. I am sure you join the staff in offering her our heartiest congratulations.
Massive thank out to all the parents who have shown such great patience this week. The reopening has been a mostly positive experience, and we have overcome a few early teething issues and are now into the swing of "normality." CHANGES FOR MONDAY 5th October
As previously stated in our newsletters coats may go backwards and forward from the school where there are no other options or the weather is bad and you would rather a coat be worn to and from class. In these situations, the coat will always come back with the child that night.
We understand the challenging situation this has presented some families but would highlight that we are not choosing to do this because it makes our lives any easier. All measures have been taken with the best interests of your children, families, the community and the highly vulnerable children and staff at heart. We have children with extreme vulnerability within the school and therefore will always follow the guidance in the most stringent way possible.
As previously requested, we would ask that parents/carers waiting to collect or drop off children follow social distancing guidelines – we understand that waiting in line might be boring. Still, please refrain from using it as a social gathering. We respectfully insist that you keep to single file to ensure that people can pass by on the pavements without being forced into the road.
From Monday we are requesting that all parents/carers collecting children and interacting with staff wear face coverings – the same request will be made of staff, and it is important that we are aware of the worsening national picture and take action to address this. This is a firmly worded request – I cannot force you, but for the good of your children, the community and our staff, please make sure face coverings are worn going forward (unless of course, you are medically exempt).
