Our Week 3rd-7th February 2020

Ark Oval Primary Academy – News of the Week

Principals Summary

Dear Parents and Carers,

Huge thank you to the parents who replied to the letter on Friday appealing for your support with the parent view survey – we are now up to 22 responses. All responses are welcome, and we thank you for the time given to support the academy.

This week we have had a great week – we found out we had a school absolutely brimming with RATS…

Obviously purely in terms of the Chinese zodiac –

“Optimistic and energetic, people born in the Rat year are likable by all. They are sensitive to other’s emotions, their personality is kind and they are clever and articulate” (https://chinesenewyear.net/zodiac/rat/)

I could not agree more with this – not only as a summation of those born in the year of the Rat but of all Ark Oval Pupils. Having had the pleasure of delivering an assembly and several lessons across the school regarding this in the week – the questions have been truly mind boggling. Sincerely we have a school full of rats, singing the academy anthem with vigour and intensity all the way through to our community minded Pupil Parliamentarians and the way the mixed age lunch times brings out the caring and sensitive side of all our pupils.

We should be rightly proud of them and their open-minded belief and dedication to the values and aims of the academy. They really are a credit to you.

The Coming Week (s)

NSPCC Number Day

On Thursday 13th Feb the academy will be promoting investigative mathematics and raising money for the NSPCC – we will be publishing details shortly. Please bring a pound and dress mathematically.

Parent Consultations.

PARENT CONSULTATIONS THIS WEEK PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND – WE WILL BE CHASING IF YOU AREN’T SIGNED UP.

INSET 14th Feb

A reminder that the academy will be CLOSED on the 14th Feb.

IT services

The academy will be transitioning onto a new cloud-based system during the half term period. This provides greater flexibility and autonomy to staff and paired with the accompanied device refresh for all teachers and the continued development of the IT suite is a huge part of the academies on-going commitment to broadening the curriculum and staff wellbeing and retention. However, the downside of this is the as of the 13th Feb until the academy reopens after half term NO STAFF WILL HAVE EMAIL ACCESS - IF YOU NEED TO NOTIFY US OF ANYTHING PLEASE LEAVE A VOICEMAIL WITH THE OFFICE. We apologise for the inconvenience and the inevitable delay but this short-term pain is very much worth the long term gain.
