Our Week 7th - 11th June 2021
Sunday 13 June 2021
We are working to regain normality; sports days, transition days, performances, and all manner of normal summer activities are going ahead. All be it in an adapted fashion - Croydon rates continue to rise with the Delta variant. We have seen schools around us losing bubbles and even shutting. That hasn't happened to us yet, and we will continue to do all we can to keep the community in and out of the school as safe as we can be.
It looks likely that the government will postpone the further relaxation of safety requirements on Monday. As such, we will be keeping the safety arrangements in place as they are until the end of the year. It is expected they will remain in place in some form or other in September as well.
We recently surveyed parents on summer camp provision - whilst the response from the sample was positive, the sample itself was small and spread across the whole school. We cant our staff to devote additional discretionary hours to such mall numbers. The academy is putting together a complete remote learning package for the summer for children to revise and augment their learning before September.
Finally, we bid farewell to Ms Ibrahim from Yr4 this week. She has been with the academy for three years. She has contributed positively to a number of our year groups. We wish her the very best in her new home and school in another borough.
LINE ETIQUETTE - Please respect each other and the requests of the school
Please use the entirety of the arrival window DONT all arrive at 1520
Respect the line - don't push in - if you are causing an issue in the line, you are compromising the safety of the academy community. We will take the matter seriously.
Please wear a face-covering in the line unless you are exempt; it keeps us all safe.
Please move through the site quickly and do not stop for social reasons or provide snacks or adjust clothing for your child. They can wait the 3 minutes until you are offsite; the people are waiting behind you in the line can not.
Please ensure you inform us as quickly as possible if you keep your child out of school with suspected symptoms.
As it stands, we have no pupils self-isolating, and the staff testing programme is in full swing.
Please be aware numerous schools in our locality are back to bursting bubbles - we MUST be vigilant and careful.

You may already have encountered Ms Carnegie at the gates or around the school. We are pleased to have her with us as a member of the leadership team. She adds some additional capacity to help us provide a deeper level of pastoral support across a wider group of pupils. Im sure you will give her a warm Oval welcome.
