Writing for Pleasure - a craze sweeps Ark Oval...

Sunday 01 December 2019

In September the Academy changed the way it taught writing, giving children more of a voice in the direction the lessons took and with a greater emphasis on the specific needs of the writers rather than where they should be for their year group. Whilst this has improved in class writing and developed a strong spine of writing skills in the school, it is perhaps the unintended outcomes which have been so inspirational.

Empowered by this new model a passion for writing and a confidence and eloquence has become apparent - children have been using break times and lunchtimes to craft and perfect material, voluntarily, from a broad spectrum of genres. This comes from across our age and ability ranges and shows a real verve and buzz around writing in the school.
